What is counselling?

Counselling is an opportunity to deal with problems in a safe non-judgemental environment.It is space for you talk in confidence, to gain understanding and resolve difficulties.

What sort of counselling do I provide?

As well as individual couples and group counselling I also provide telephone and email counselling. I am happy to discuss arrangements and fees for these services.

Is counselling confidential?

All counselling is confidential and any records I keep are seen only by me or within supervision which is also confidential.

How many sessions will be needed?

This will vary from person to person but can be just a few sessions to a year or longer and generally on a weekly basis

How long is each session for?

Normally they would last 50 minutes

What will happen at the first session?

This is an opportunity for you to talk about why you are looking for counselling and what you would hope to get out of it. It will also give you an idea of what counselling with me would be like.

What is my experience?

I have been practising as a counsellor since 1992 and have experince of working with individuals couples and groups.I have worked for the National Health Service and voluntary organisations, as well as in Private Practice.

When do I work?

I normally work on Mondays and Tuesdays and have daytime and evening appointments.

What do I charge?

My fees are £35-50 for individuals and £40-70 for couples.

Is my work supervised?

I have regular supervision for all my counselling work

Do I subscribe to a code of ethics?

I am a UKRCP registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist and also an Accredited member of The British Association For counselling and Psychotherapy and work to their Ethical Framework. This also has a complaints procedure.
